Bug Description

Description: Ubuntu 9.10

network-manager:
  Installed: 0.8~a~git.20091013t193206.679d548-0ubuntu1

3) didn't really know what to expect, i was just playing around with it; ad-hoc networks show up on other computers as random SSID garbage (and there are several of them)

4) nm-applet kept spamming the screen saying it was connecting/disconnecting to the new network (console said notifications were throttled at 50, so its doing it a lot and fast), eventually nm-applet would crash

Also had it again that it showed me, that it is connected, then that it isn't connected anymore and so on until I deleted the ad-hoc network in the connection editor.

Marking this confirmed. This is reproducible here using lucid with ~ RC. I'm upgrading now . There are no network-manager updates coming, but a kernel update.

This is still present for me on 10.04 updated yesterday (2 days before lucid release).
$ dpkg-query --show network-manager

I also have the same problem.. The adhoc just worked once..but after a restart..nope it went kaput!.. and when i started the terminal : showed me this :

** (nm-applet:2873): WARNING **: _nm_object_get_property: Error getting 'Connection' for /org/freedesktop/NetworkManager/ActiveConnection/22: (19) Method "Get" with signature "ss" on interface "org.freedesktop.DBus.Properties" doesn't exist

Segmentation fault

Will this be fixed?

Alright..managed to fix it.. this is what it did:

1. Created a new wireless Adhoc connection in my phone..
2. Ubuntu was able to discover it but when i clicked on it..it wouldn't connect
3. So, sitting around..i clicked on " create new wireless network " ..and this time it connected...and the problem didnt come..
4. so now basically first i created a connx from my phone which ubuntu discovers but isnt able to connect to..but when i created a new connection from the nm-applet gui..the connect disconnect problem didnt come..and im able to use adhoc now..but on the new connection which i created in ubuntu...damn..what a lame fix...
