Bug Description

Binary package hint: guake

Since updating various packages as part of the standard Ubuntu recommendations, guake under Karmic has ceased to function. (Worked fine under the initial Karmic install.)

Running guake results in the following behavior:
- python uses up >55% of the cpu, and >30% memory
- the guake terminal window, when opened flickers briefly, and instantly closes itself (the app itself stays running)

There is no output in the console.

Running:
Ubuntu 9.10
guake .4.0-4

summary: - spikes CPY and won't stay open after package update(s)

Yes.

Just verified that this issue hasn't been fixed by any intervening updates.

Happens every time guake is launched.

Could you try on guake 0.4.1 ?

Do you have this with any other software ?

I have the same issue here. Strange thing is: If you start with /bin/bash and then type zsh/screen/byobu it simply works.

This is the according ticket from the guake-Project but theres no Solution / Patch: http://guake.org/ticket/214
