Bug Description

On my Samsung NC10 After the upgrade to Jaunty, there is no control over brightness, neither by hotkeys (worked on 9.04),
nor throught the brightness applet.

I suppose it's udev or gnome-power-manager, but I can't be completely sure.

The Kernel I'm using is 2.6.31-16-generic, but had 31.15 installed and it didn't work anyway.

Please let me know what else information do you need to track this.

Cheers

Lukasz

Hi johny, and thanks for reporting this to us. Can you provide the output files from the following:
udevadm info --export-db > udev-db.txt
dmesg > dmesg.log
sudo lsinput > lsinput.log
xkbcomp -xkb :0 - > xkbcomp.txt
setxkbmap -print > xkbmap.txt
Also can you test and provide the information under the "Step-by-step Troubleshooting" section at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Hotkeys/Troubleshooting . This will help developers find the cause of the problem. Thank you.

Reporter of bug #503577, suggest that adding kernel boot options: apci_brightness=vendor although I believe it must be:
acpi_backlight=vendor because I don't find acpi_brightness kernel option.
As explained in http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=8612908&postcount=828
But I guess it has to be considered a workaround, FOR A DIFFERENT HARDWARE THAN YOURS, but may be worth to try.

@Paul: Maybe that comment should have been made IN bug 503577.

@Johny: please ignore this, and continue to provide the information requested by myself. Thank you.
