Bug Description

Shortly after 0.8.12 I submitted a fix for an irssi-proxy bug, which was committed:
(2007-11-18 22:21:51 jilles, from irssi ChangeLog)

Since hardy is LTS, and irssi-proxy is a common thing to use on an LTS, it is a shame this remains broken on hardy.

Version 0.8.14 has the fix in it, and hopefully would be easy to backport, and is unlikely to have many negative side effects since it is only an IRC client. Thank you.

Here is a me too. from the 30th of January 2010, logging on a bunch of networks including freenode (irc.ubuntu.com) no longer works correctly with the version of irssi shipped in 8.04lts (0.8.12), which is fixed in 0.8.14.
This version is available in Karmic: http://packages.ubuntu.com/karmic/irssi

The dsc for this package from karmic *does* build with hardy-i386 in pbuilder

There are dependency issues during install.

FTR, the package depends on packages with higher versions (why, i'm not exactly sure - upstreams tarball doesn't depend on those versions).
