Bug Description
Binary package hint: gnome-volume-
Distribution: Ubuntu 6.06 (dapper)
Package: gnome-applets
Severity: minor
Version: GNOME2.14.1 unspecified
Gnome-Distributor: Ubuntu
Synopsis: Plug in the SanDisk Cruzer Mini Micro 2.0GB Thumb Drive is seen as CD-ROM disk *and* USB drive.
Bugzilla-Product: gnome-applets
Bugzilla-Component: Disk Mounter (drivemount)
Bugzilla-Version: unspecified
Description:
Description of Problem: When you plug in the Plug in the SanDisk Cruzer
Mini Micro 2.0GB Thumb Drive thumb drive, the system mounts it
perfectly, but a CD-ROM drive icon appears on the desktop. I am not
certain if this is with all USB drives (my other SanDisk 128MB USB Micro
Thumb Drive does not reproduce this snafu), or if its simply this model
or amount of storage. Simultaneously, my removable USB backup hard disk
does not reproduce this problem, either.
Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Plug in the SanDisk Cruzer Mini Micro 2.0GB Thumb Drive
2. Wait for Nautilus to mount the drive.
3. Watch two icons appear on the desktop -- 1 CD-ROM drive and 1
"usbdisk" icon.
Actual Results: 2 icons appear on the desktop.
Expected Results: Only one icon, the "usbdisk" labeled icon should
appear on the desktop.
How often does this happen?: Every time you plug in the Plug in the
SanDisk Cruzer Mini Micro 2.0GB Thumb Drive.
Additional Information: This is not too big of an issue, in fact it is
just a small bug. I just bought the Plug in the SanDisk Cruzer Mini
Micro 2.0GB Thumb Drive today, so I am not certain if it reproduces the
same error on Ubuntu 5.10 or lower.
