Bug Description

Binary package hint: hplip

On Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala, the printer HP Color LaserJet CP4005dn always print in duplex mode using the driver from HPLIP Software Version 3.9.8.
The Duplex settings on the printer dialog are ignored.

Solution:

Manually upgrade HPLIP to 3.9.10 and choose the "HP Color LaserJet cp4005 pcl3" driver.

Unfortunately pcl3 driver seems introducing other problems like printing all backgrounds as black.

i have the same problem on a hp laserjet 1320. so this is probably something more general.

This problem also appears in Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala using HPLIP Software Version 3.9.12 with the following printers and drivers:

HP LaserJet 2200 Postscript (recommended)
HP Color LaserJet CP4005 Postscript (recommended)

Seems to be a general HPLIP bug on Karmic.

Additionally, some "Print Settings" on the graphical HPLIP Device Manager are disabled or cannot be changed. The same settings are enabled and can be changed on the default "Printer Configuration" (system-config-printer 1.1.12).
