Bug Description

I am using a slideshow of tiled background images from Propaganda as my desktop background. I have selected a directory of these images using Desktop Settings dialog. My problem is that whenever a background changes, my desktop slows to crawl for several seconds. I actually have time to launch top during background change only to see Xorg process happily eating away my processor cycles.

Forgot to mention that this problem started to occur after I upgraded to Kubuntu 9.10 from previous version. Before that background change was lightning fast (as it should be).

Hello
Is this problem present with the latest updated Karmic's, Lucid's or Maverick's packages?
Thanks in advance
Fabio
