Bug Description

Changelogs are no longer displayed for any update--just a blank tab.

I've confirmed that this is not an issue with changelog posting delays, as the changelogs can be viewed via Synaptic (menu Package -> Download Changelog) or via shell (aptitude changelog package). (Unfortunately, I'm assuming that all 3 apps obtain changelogs from the same URL, so this may not be a valid point.)

It's possible that the changelog is being downloaded, but not displayed, since I no longer see a "downloading message" or even a "check back later" message for updates where the changelog is not yet available.

Just checked again and I did actually spot the "downloading" message displaye d very quickly. However, there was no "check back later" message for binutils, which at the moment has no changelog available.

Just want to confirm this bug. I've done a stock install from the AMD64 6.06 CD on three different PCs, and none of the installations show change information for updates.

Not disimilar to Bug #40058 (or more specifically some of the duplicates in that bug)

I'm confirming this bug as well. I downloaded 13 updates and not one has a message explaining the change.

I noticed last time I did updates that there were one or two (maybe Samba?) that had a description of why the update was being applied. Most did not though/ Is it possible that the package maintainers are leaving out an optional field that Update Manager is using as the source of this information?
