Bug Description

my update manager will not and never has installed any updates due to this error. my computer locks up and freezes and it was bought from new in august, i have a dell inspiron 10. please could you help me with this as it does get quite anoying. i have also read about renaming or moving file libxcb-shape0.list but having no joy in doing so. thank you

Your package cache may be corrupted. Did you try to clean it? The following command wil do this for you :
sudo aptitude clean
(you have to close your update manager before)
Then re-open you update manager and update.
