I freshly installed 9.10 and reimported some music and pictures.

Steps for me to reproduce this are:

1. Open my home directory /home/ben

2. Navigate to the /home directory using gui

3. Right click on /ben OR click to open /ben

GUI is pretty dead, with Right click the app can go inactive and freeze up for quite a while (20 seconds)

4. Once recovered, if I type in the path, or use he tree view, it responds quickly and effortlessly

5. Thunar shows no such symptoms.

If there's anything you'd like me to try then please let me know.

From terminal, I listed from /home (ls -R>/media/storext4/homelisting.txt)

I am curious if it is my Podcasts directory - which I prefer to have in a browsable location, perhaps I should put it back into the hidden .miro folder...

Hi Pedro
Sorry about delay... I had it all written up then launchpad went down for maintenance before I posted it!

1) Click on toolbar "Places" (Applications - Places - System) in Ubuntu 9.04
2) click on Home folder to go direct to my documents etc...
this opens a small mini window - loading something then it stalls. at this point the Amarok 2 icon appears on the bar (my defaults for Amarok)

3) as a result I try to open Amarok 2 from the bar icon - however this fails to work - and right click menu as well. So I go to system monitor to force quit Amarok "Kill the selected process? .... Only unresponding process should be killed" Well it's not working so... :)

That's it

Thanks for any leads that may have caused this instability.

Attn Pedro

I have uninstalled Amarok and the Toolbar short-cut to Home folder works perfectly again!
So... I reinstalled Amarok 2 from Repo's and it changed the shortcut file again - So this issue is related to Amarok.
