Bug Description

Binary package hint: banshee

When sorting on many fields, the word "the" should be disregarded from the sort order. For example, when sorting by artist, I would expect The Beatles to be under B, not under T.

Similarly, it might make sense to list "The Beatles" as "Beatles, The".

This is already available in the latest Banshee release. You can set
the "sort by" title, album, artist fields in the property editor, under
the "Sorting" tab.

Changed in banshee (Ubuntu):
status: New → Fix Committed

I'm confused. I'm running v. 1.6b2, and I don't see anything like that. Am I behind the times?

This should be in 1.5.1, so I'm marking it as fix released. Please see the tag editor dialog, under the "Sorting" tab.

Is there a way to change the default behavior to ignore certain words for all fields? If not, this seems like a very difficult solution. I have about fifty different artists that start with the word "The". I don't want to have to adjust all of these manually.
