Cannot mount older CDs to play audio files

Custom made Shuttle barebones SS30G2 w/ Penutium 805 dual - no overclock - unit has SiS mirage 1 graphics chip built in to motherboard -has Phoenix BIOS - has AC'97 v.2.3 audio built in to motherboard (3 stack) 5.1 Analog - w/ SPDIF connector.

Loaded Kiwi 8.03 and upgraded to 8.04 LTS. Cannot get older CDs (approx. 5 years or so) to mount. Newer Cds mount and play just fine.

Don't know enough about Linux to get package name.
