Bug Description

Binary package hint: mcelog

The kernels for Ubuntu 9.04 do not have the option CONFIG_X86_MCE turned on. This prevents getting reports of memory errors on the system. I am currently running 2.6.28-16-generic and it is not enabled.

This is of critical importance, especially for server systems.

Please add this option in the next kernel update.

Thanks,
Rick

I just confirmed it is fixed in Lucid and higher kernels:

 # grep CONFIG_X86_MCE /boot/config-2.6.32-49-server
CONFIG_X86_MCE=y
CONFIG_X86_MCE_INTEL=y
CONFIG_X86_MCE_XEON75XX=m
CONFIG_X86_MCE_AMD=y
CONFIG_X86_MCE_THRESHOLD=y
CONFIG_X86_MCE_INJECT=m
