Bug Description
Binary package hint: firefox-3.5
Even though my system is installed for the English / American locale, Firefox is using the English-GB locale instead, which means the dictionary and spell checking is a bit off.

Confirmed. I know there's a few duplicates of this issue but I don't have time to search right now. Here's the workaround, anyway:
Right click in a text box that has spellchecking. Click Languages, set en_US.
