shapes are inconsistant

Bug Description

I am running Inkscape on Vista.When I try to draw shapes(rectangles,circles,polygons and stars) I can't see the
shapes on the drawing canvas except the handles.I have followed
the manual but no use.When I draw One rectangle and try to draw another one but it disappears the first one...totally inconsistent shapes.

Actually i wanted to draw the squares for keypad design but its not working.let me know someone has correctly worked out on vista.Tool is good but this simple problem then its not good compare to Gimp.

If anyone has solution plz tell me.

Did you verify that either fill or stroke of the new objects is set to a visible color with opacity > 0 and transparency A (alpha) > 0?
Draw a new object, and while it is still selected (bounding box handles visible) open menu 'Object > Fill and Stroke…' and inspect the RGBA and opacity values for 'Fill > Flat color' and 'Stroke paint > Flat color'.
