Bug Description
Binary package hint: ubuntuone-client
I've successfully set up Tomboy sync on a new machine (upgraded from Jaunty to Karmic), but file and contact synchronization are mostly silently failing to talk to the server.
Looking at ~/.cache/
Contact syncing with evolution seems to fail entirely quietly (or I don't know where to find the logs); I have a large amount of contacts accessible through the web interface happily syncing with other computers, while Evolution on the new machine simply gives me an empty "Ubuntu One" address book. Creating new contacts there does not affect what's on the server, but it does not report any failures to contact the server.
While I was asked to register this computer via the web interface when setting up Tomboy, I was not asked to do so again for file or contact sync; I seem to recall that being necessary in the past.
I am not running NetworkManager (and it is not installed); the system has an always-on ethernet connection (and it has to be running before login, so I can't even try NetworkManager). Looking at the patch in the bug report and the file on my system, I'm pretty certain I've got a version with bug #357395 fixed (another NetworkManager dependency with different symptoms than what I'm seeing).
Hi Jim,
Sorry to hear Ubuntu One isn't working properly for you. Fortunately, we have a fix you can try in our beta PPA. If you follow the steps in the following FAQ you should be able to try out this new fix: https:/ /answers. edge.launchpad. net/ubuntuone- client/ +faq/836
If this does not fix the problem, please report back here and let me know what you are using to connect to the network/Internet.
Thank you,
Joshua
