Looking through the dpkg log, I found this:
resolvconf: Error: /etc/resolv.conf must be a symlink
which appears to be bug #324233 . I could reproduce this problem like this:
- check that resolvconf is NOT installed /run/resolv. conf
- install pdns-recursor, start it up
- install resolvconf package, note that /etc/resolv.conf becomes a symlink to /etc/resolvconf
- OVERWRITE /etc/resolv.conf symlink with the actual file
- try to uninstall pdns-recursor (or just try to stop it), and it will fail with the message
gimre@ximi: /var/lib/ dpkg/info$ sudo /etc/init. d/pdns- recursor stop
resolvconf: Error: /etc/resolv.conf must be a symlink
When uninstalling pdns-recursor, the prerm script tries to stop it first, but because of the above _resolvconf_ error, it will fail, thus the package removal will fail.
Marking this bug duplicate of bug #324233 .
