usplash killed by signal TERM on shutdown

Binary package hint: usplash

On shutdown, screen goes blank before I get any pretty graphics. Then it switches to another virtual terminal where text is displayed that says that usplash was killed by signal TERM. The rest of shutdown then continues with messages about all the processes that are being killed.

It happens to me too, I just wanted to report a bug. The difference is that I have an ati video card, not nvidia.

May be a symptom of bug #348440. That bug describes a potential race condition between X and usplash.

It is happening with me too! It began occuring after installing the package kubuntu-desktop.

I'm pretty sure it's a duplicate of bug #348440, since every once in a while, the stars will align and I do get usplash on shutdown. This looks like a race condition.

I have this bug and I also have an ATI, in PCs with nVidias which I have seen it works well.

I don't think this is a duplicate bug, in #348440 system switches to a text console and then back to usplash.

The problem here is that we have a message "usplash killed" on the console and so usplash never appears. I have several Karmic systems and all of them show this behaviour, but I guess it won't be fixed and so it should be stated.
