Bug Description

After upgrade to KDE 3.5.3 on Kubuntu Dapper, device icons are invisible after logging in. They show up only after an event related to media insertion/removal, like inserting a CD or USB key.

Same bug here. Only woks if new device is used. However media detection works just fine. Everything shows up in the media folder. That would rule out hal issues I suppose.

Good evening,

I noticed the last update on this bug was from 2006-06-08, and I am wondering if you are still having problems with this? Could you please make sure your system is up to date and then up date this bug?

Thanks,

Jonathan

On kubuntu Feisty the problem still exists. Checking unmounted floppy to show on the desktop has no effects. To say it is a bug one would have to know a policy for showing or not showing device icons. For sure desktop settings are not respected.

Running Kubuntu Feisty (KDE 3.5.6) and have the same problem.

For some reason I lost all the placements of my desktop icons a few days ago and my KDE panel was reset to default, this morning I noticed that CDs and removable media don't show up on the desktop anymore. The KDE Daemon window show up when I insert them, and they do get mounted, but I can't easily eject / safely remove them.

(Just noticed that the second user I have logged on does show the icon, but can't access it, as it is mounted by my main user.)
