Hi Alex,

I'm sorry to hear Ubuntu One notes is not working properly for you. When you right-click on the Tomboy icon and select "Synchronize Notes", what happens? If you get an error (or nothing at all), please try the following so we can try to determine what the cause of the problem is:

1. Quit Tomboy
2. Applications->Accessories->Terminal, and run:
    tomboy --debug > ~/tomboy_debug.log
3. Try to reproduce the bug and then attach ~/tomboy_debug.log to this bug report

Note that attaching the Tomboy debug log will show information about what you are attempting to sync with Ubuntu One. If you do not want this to be public, please mark the bug as private and this bug report will only be available to you and the Ubuntu One team.

Thank you,

Joshua

Hi Joshua,

thanks for quick reply. I didn't found any "Synchronize Notes" item on any click.
Please take a look at attachment.

If you hint me where it should be, I'll issue steps you have provided above.

Thanks,

Hi Alex,

When you right-click on the Tomboy icon in you should see a "Synchronize Notes" option, either selectable or not selectable (meaning you need to setup sync). Did you go through the steps detailed in this tutorial for setting up synchronizing notes with Ubuntu One? https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuOne/Tutorials/Notes

Also, if you run the following from a terminal session, can you report back what it outputs? sudo apt-cache policy tomboy

Thank you,

Joshua

Hi Joshua,

it was my fault. Yes I connected Tomboy with Ubuntu One, but I had use "Tomboy Notes" gnome applet. And as it turned out, this applet hasn't synchronize option (synchronizing can be configured, but there's no way to synchronize on demand or automatically). This feature can be only accessible via Tomboy Notes application.

This issue can be resolved as Invalid, or extended as wishlist to add synchronize option to "Tomboy Notes" at gnome applet.

Thanks for your time Joshua,

I would like to reopen this bug. I am facing the same issue and please find my tomboy app details below:
When I click the "Synchronize Notes" option it pops up a dialog with message "acquiring sync lock... " . Then it fails with message "Could not synchronize notes. Check the details below and try again". The details text box provided is empty..

I have confirmed that my Tomboy is setup to connect the Service "Tomboy Web" pointed to the URL "https://one.ubuntu.com/notes"
It had authenticated me through the browser.. (as outlined in the wiki). Now the controls in the "Synchronization" Tab in the preferences settings are disabled and the "Connect" button says "Connected".

I had some notes synchronized couple of days back using Tomboy from another instance of the OS (I had suffered a crash and reinstalled..)

To make matters worse the online site is displaying an error in the notes section now.. with the following :
OOPS-ID-1631appserverZBbBEfEGAFIFaEcJIacHbBHBeJdfbGIfb131164 (If required I can raise a separate bug for this..) The Notes service status on the server is okay..

Following is my config:
I am running Ubuntu 10.4 with 2.6.32-23-preempt kernel image.

tomboy:
  Installed: 1.2.1-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 1.2.1-0ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 1.2.1-0ubuntu1 0
        500 http://in.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid-updates/main Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     1.2.0-0ubuntu1 0
        500 http://in.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages

Please find my debug log attached. I find a SERVER INTERNAL ERROR being reported.
Also the client outputted the following errors when I tried opening the "Details" panel in Synchronization dialog

(tomboy:13128): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_source_remove: assertion `tag > 0' failed

(tomboy:13128): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_source_remove: assertion `tag > 0' failed
