Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubuntuone-client

Hello,
I've noticed that the size of the local ubuntu one folder and the space used on the server differs, i.e. 267.4 MB locally and 494.6 MB on the server. Beside the files on the server I have only one note and few contacts, which couldn't make such big difference.
I have a fresh install of Ubuntu 9.10 on 32 bit machine. At the beginning I had some sync and other problems but everything was solved by doing couple of times complete uninstall / install as per https://answers.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntuone-client/+faq/778
Now everything is synchronized, I checked all the files manually and the only one issue is the used space - locally and on the server.
I suppose that this should be a bug issue.

Thank you for taking the time to submit this bug report. I'm going to assign this to someone who can best look into why the numbers between the server and client are so far off. Thank you, Joshua

Hi Yens,

One question: Did you start using Ubuntu One within the past 2 months or was it before then? This will help us determine how far reaching of a problem this might be.

Thank you,

Joshua

Hi Joshua,
Thank you for your efforts spent on my bug report.
I've started using u1 for less than 2 months. It was just before the launch of 9.10 Karmic release.
Actually I registered for u1, when I was under 9.04, in case this matters anyhow.
Regards,
Yens

Assigned client-side version of the bug to Guillermo. LP will not let me set a priority.

This bug affects me, too.
Instead of telling me the use of nearly 1 GB, the webfrontend shows only 33 MB.
But I think, that none of my files are missing on the servers.

Hi yens! Are you still experiencing this issue?

We fixed a couple of bugs that could have generated this problem, so luckily all is ok for you (however, we may need to do any adjustment).

Could you please confirm your current situation?

Thank you very much!

It is still not corrected for me. Locally I have 660M in ~/Ubuntu One/ and .ubuntuone (for purchased music) combined. The web interface and the U1 info dialog on my computer both say I am using 937M. I can supply du output and screenshots if that is helpful/you need proof.

yens, how much you say you're using locally? and how you're measuring it?

Thanks!

Greg & Yens,

I have corrected your storage. As 'early adopters' you were bit by an old bug some time ago. It should be fixed now.

My apologies, if you're at UDS I'll be available for flogging and insults for a couple of days.

I saw it's already solved to me. Thanks to everyone for the efforts.
Anyway there is a slight difference like 362.4 on the server and 362.6
locally but I think this is really minor issue now.

I'm having the same problem. After some sync-bugs (solved now, with maverick), I have no files in my Ubuntu One Folder nor in the WebUI, but it still shows 901.6MB used?
