Implement recovery of changes in case of crash

Right now, saving to disk when calling TempSave is disabled. The code is crufty and not very up to date. We need to reimplement this functionality, taking into account that the flame tree can now only have a single file open.

I think not. It's not a small feature, with lots of little corner
cases that need to work properly.
