"reported by" text is not easy to find, duplicates information

Author and date information tends to be on the left (see: comments), and I always expect to see the date and reporter at the top of the bug, on the left. The existing text is kind of floating around in the middle of nowhere, outside the nice new style of the other information on the right. Plus, it duplicates the bug number. It seems like it would be better to position this information at the bug summary on the left, since the date and author is part of the summary metadata in the same way that the comment author/date is part of the comment metadata. Plus, the bug number wouldn't need to be repeated (it's already there, right under the title). An alternative would be to place it just above the summary, as it would be for comments.

Well, at least the patch is easy enough.

I agree this needs some additional discussion. I'm not sure whether I like it or not myself. It does seem to condense a lot of related information together, and it makes the right hand side look cleaner. But aah! change!

I also tried positioning the reported by line under the title below the breadcrumbs, but I couldn't come up with a way that didn't look completely dorky.

My 2¢: turn the original report into a box in the timeline, as if it
was a comment with no text. We already have such boxes for other
status changes with no text.

Then if the description is edited, you can put "see original
description" in that box.

This may be visually larger but it'll be consistent and less noisy.
