The problem occures when there is word list pop out, such as when using Chinese-py. When I press left arrow or right arrow which cause it out of bound, it crashes immediately the application where I am typing.

can you give an example of an application and the characters you are trying to type. an exact workflow scenario to reproduce the problem might be helpful.

any application, gedit, firefox, tomboy notes, etc

For example typing at gedit, choose Chinese->py, and then type 'wo' and then press left arrow. The gedit hang immediately.

i can't seem to replicate this problem. can you move through the characters using the up/down arrow?
what happens when gedit hangs, does the ibus window disappear? does ibus respond to ESC key to close the ibus window?

I can press up and down arrow. But it is not moving per character, but per section
I am not quite understand what is the ibus window, so maybe I just show the screenshot to reproduce the problem.

Screenshot1
This is how I choose Chinese->py

Screenshot2
This picture show when I am typing some words, it will came out the words window, is this the window that you meant? As I press down arrow it moves from section (1/9) to (2/9) not per words, and there is no problem at here.

Screenshot3
But after I press left arrow once, the window disappear and the gedit hang.

thanks for the clarification. one more question: does it only happen with py, or also with pinyin?

No problem with pinyin. Seems like it will happen only if the choosing-character-window appear....

Similar problem. ibus+PY crashes firefox.

ibus+Cangjie 5 also sometimes causes Firefox to hang. When I force Firefox to shut down, ibus will also be terminated and have to be restarted.

I have also seen this on a 9.10 desktop installation a few weeks ago, but I didn't figure out what was causing the application crashes other than some association with using py input method. I don't have access to that machine anymore and can't replicate this on a current 9.10 netbook remix installation.

The 9.10 machine was an update from 8.10 and 9.04, previously using SCIM, perhaps this is an artifact of switching from SCIM to ibus...? *shrug*

Hi, all.

It's 2012.
Are you still bothered with a IBus 1.2 problem?
The latest stable version of IBus is 1.4.1 now and pre-release of IBus 1.5 is already available.
If not, I'd close this bug as "Fixed Released".
