Bug Description
Once I see the little pinwheel (ubuntu's hourglass, I don't know what it's called) in the boot process mythtv just shows a black screen with a white rectangle in the upper left corner. The black background seems to be the wallpaper or background and the white box looks like there was a window there or it failed to draw a window. The white rectangle is a little smaller than the top-left quarter of the screen that it occupies. Once the desktop is displayed everything looks fine.
This is reported against Mythbuntu 9.10 upgraded to a daily build on Nov. 9th 2009 (I may be off by a day or two).

Any chance you disabled composite in your xorg config? I have noticed something similar after disabling composite.
