Battery applet refuses to acknowledge unplugging of AC Adapter with Desktop effects running

When the desktop effects are running in Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.10, the GNOME Power Manager 2.28.1 applet refuses to acknowledge that the AC adapter on my Acer Aspire One A150 has been unplugged. Instead, it claims that the AC adapter is still plugged-in and that the battery is at a constant charge of 100%. Despite this, when the AC adapter is plugged back in, it reports that the battery is charging. However, I do not experience this problem at all when the desktop effects are switched-off

Since I don't use Ubuntu anymore (I switched back to Windows), I ran the test from a USB stick using the most up-to-date version of Ubuntu UNR. However, when I created the same environment in which my battery meter seemed to fail the last-time I had Ubuntu installed, it seemed to be working OK and the battery meter told me that I had unplugged my power-cable

I have the same symptoms with GPM 2.30.0 on an Aspire One A110 running Lucid Netbook Remix.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. A new version of Gnome Power Manager is available on Maverick and we are wondering if this bug is still an issue for you with that version? Could you please test and comment back? Thanks in advance.

I confirm the same behavior with Maverick (running from Live USB).
