clicking Openoffice file opens OO splash screen but nothing opens when browsing thru protocol in Dolphin/Konq

This bug may need to be moved to the Openoffice section if it's a problem with that. I believe if might be a problem with kioslaves or something not sure.

To reproduce:
1) browse to fish://yourserver, sftp://yourserver, or smb://yourserver and find an Opendocument file on the server. use either konqueror or dolphin
2) click to load the file and, if in konqueror, select the option of "open with Openoffice [Spreadsheet, Writer, etc]"
3) the splash screen for OO loads but nothing more happens

Tested on: Kubuntu 8.10 using KDE 4.1.2

I found that this also applies to Amarok and xmms when I click an mp3 to play that I am browsing in Konq using Fish. It works fine with Gwenview though when viewing images.

after further reading and double checking i've found that this bug is related to this bug

the problem seems to be with the way that kde and some kde and non kde applications treats tempfiles.

so maybe this bug is related and even a duplicate of bug #70981 https://bugs.launchpad.net/openoffice/+bug/70981

I just updated to Intrepid, and this is still a problem: happens using Dolphin and Konqueror when trying over the sftp (or fish, i think they're actually the same) and also with smb:// protocol. The steps to reproduce are still the same, except it's no longer necessary to even click "open with openoffice" as this option isn't given. Instead, it just must try to open but nothing happens after the dialog is shown.

Perhaps this should be filed under KIOSLAVES or something like that? I will provide diagnostic info when possible if I can be directly what might be useful for devs to solve the problem.
