Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

had the terminal window open while installing the ubuntu update to new version. Security errors flashing by on the screen, process to fast no logging enabled not able to review on errors so I am not able to send you additional info.

the errors in general appeared solely when open office new version that was packaged along with new ubuntu version was installing.

In the end I also got an error that the update was not able to finish, an config -a option was being executed.

Do not know if system is stable enough and will presumably need to reinstall and reconfigure.

Suggestion:
- halt distribution of deployment package momentarily
- re-test complete deployment package // commercially bad for UBUNTU product name and Linux installbase
- improve/correct errors
- re-test in lab / small user group
- re-distribute

Why the above mentioned "Long" trajectory ? Well, to keep it short: don't get to be like the Microsoft guys.
I and many like me believe in open source future, but it 'll only work if you do things right first time.

PS: if you need testers, count me in.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

security vulnerability: yes → no
