Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdebase

In the default konqueror sidebar we find a "network" tab. By default that is filled with "FTP archives" and "websites". Those are some special kind of bookmarks.

However, we also ship with the kio_remote, a great small tool to manage connections to remote. This one is FAR better intgrated in the rest of KDE.
Hence I think we should remove the contents of the "network" tab in the sidebar with the content from "remote".

Not only does this allow us more consistency, it removes clutter, centralises the resources and most of all adds better awareness for the kio_remote.

This is an example .directory file that should replace the bookmark one we have now.

Thank you for filing this bug. I agree that the sidebar would be much more sensible and useful if it showed the contents of remote:/

There are a couple related bugs upstream:

In Kubuntu Intrepid Ibex Dolphin has it's "Network" entry in it's "Places" sidebar set to go to remote:/
Konqueror, however, still seems to use it's own little sidebar.

Hello,

Thanks for reporting this feature request! Unfortunately, at this time Kubuntu does not have the developer manpower needed to implement and maintain many features at the Kubuntu level. But don't worry! This issue is being tracked by the KDE developers at: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=62448
Once implemented in KDE, it will be included in Kubuntu once the KDE version the feature is implemented in reaches Kubuntu.

Thanks!
