Bug Description
Binary package hint: kmail
I ran "sudo apt-get install kmail" on regular Karmic (i386) with Rosegarden as the only other KDE application installed. I ran KMail, and set up an IMAP account for Gmail. I chose not to use the KDE wallet(?) to store the password. I expected to be able to read my email. Trying to collect mail give me:
Source URL is malformed.
I added a duplicate account in case I'd made a mistake, and it does the same thing. I also see the following that I missed before?
Could not start process for imap.
I added another account for POP3 instead, same mailbox, and now I see this:
Could not start process pop3s.
If I choose Settings | Configure KMail there's obviously a lot of content missing. That is, it makes no sense, and there are no options to change. Loading a profile, setting defaults, or resetting doesn't help this. The help button doesn't do anything.
Choosing the KMail Handbook from the Help menu gives
The file or folder help:/kmail/
and the help page shows
There is no documentation available for /kmail/index.html.
Running from the command line gives these messages at some point:
findServiceByDe
findServiceByDe
findServiceByDe

Installing kmail on Ubuntu Lucid works fine with IMAP except for the Handbook being unabilable:
Could not find service 'khelpcenter'
except for that everything works fine.
