Bug Description

Binary package hint: network-manager

It appears that the wireless adapter button works since I can see a message into the log:
----------
ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ grep -i networkmanager /var/log/syslog | tail -1
Nov 12 18:02:08 ubuntu NetworkManager: <info> Wireless now enabled by radio killswitch
ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ grep -i networkmanager /var/log/syslog | tail -1
Nov 12 18:02:12 ubuntu NetworkManager: <info> Wireless now disabled by radio killswitch
ubuntu@ubuntu:~$
----------

However I have no visual feed-back into the desktop environment. The gnome network applet doesn't show a list of available networks although the M. Vista on the same notebook on the same location a few minutes ago gave more than 15 networks available.

The network support is very important.

The network is important for the install process and thus should be available on the install CD (without network connection). Of course the user would be asked if he wants to use restricted drivers.

Moving this to UNR-meta, because the request is that the drivers be made available on the ISO for a laptop.

affects: ubuntu → unr-meta (Ubuntu)

When the laptop made its deep upgrade from Ubuntu 9.10 to Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, then it loose its Internet connection because it relied on Wifi.

Since it is not easy to get an Ethernet connection now. It made the upgrade painful.
