Show position of pointer when the ctrl... option wont turn on

In System>Preferences>Mouse the option "Show position of pointer when the control key is pressed" wont turn on. It just flickers and unchecks it self

Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. However, a paper cut should be a small usability issue, in the default Ubuntu 9.10 install, that affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. So this bug can't be addressed as part of this project.

Perhaps it couldn't grab the Control key because something else has already grabbed in on your setup?
