Bug Description
I used the update-manager to upgrade my Netbook remix laptop to 9.10. On (hd0,0) I have Windows7, and on (hd0,4) I have Netbook remix.
I seem to remember that I allowed the upgrade process to install the new package maintainer's version of Grub's menu.lst - thinking that it would be clever enough to adjust its contents to the existing menu.lst (especially regarding the actual root partition of Ubuntu netbook remix itself).
When I rebooted, it was obvious that it had failed to do so. When I booted, and pressed 'e' to examine the top entry leading to Ubuntu netbook remix, it said "root (hd0)" and on kernel "... root=/dev/hda5".
I manually adjusted root to (hd0,4) and root= to /dev/sda5. Then the boot process worked allright.
