Keyboard layouts are unreadably small

System/Preferences/Keyboard shows/Add shows a list of all available keyboard layouts with an example of how they look.

However, that example is, by default, so small it's impossible to read the keys.

One solution would be allowing to zoom in, another would be to give a bigger window, or allow maximizing the window (without having to drag the borders of the window).

In Edgy I cannot even see any preview of the layout, however the label "Preview" is shown and there is place for that.

Actually although your comment (that they are not working) is a duplicate, the original comment that they are not readable is a separate bug.

Yes, in fact I could mark it "Fixed", since now there is no keyboard layout shown at all. Maybe if the fix for 58083 displays too small buttons (I think it does not, according to the screenshot attached) we should reopen this bug.

I misremembered, there is no workaround. I had previously tested by going back to dapper.

It is still to small as if Feisty, at least on my system. But maybe this is a GNOME or Xorg issue?

This shows the default window size shown when I click "show current layout" on the keyboard switcher applet.

There is enough space in the keys to show a legible letter, but the space is just not used effectively.

I commented, suggested silkscreen font, it is free and made for small screens. It countains only latin characters though.
