Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace

I am using Karmic Kubuntu

I have a Lenovo SL500 laptop running a dual head display. The LVDS is widescreen and the VGA is normal aspect, thus when dual head is enabled there is "dead space" at the top and bottom of the screen.

When I click in that dead space my desktop changes from the normal KDE desktop to one that appears to be a GNOME screen.

I have certain GNOME apps installed.

I don't believe this is a duplicate, as this only seems to affect Karmic. I had very similar setup on Jaunty and this did not happen.

Also the bug that has been flagged as the duplicate seems only to be an issue when Gnome and KDE are installed on the same system, I do not have Gnome installed on my system.
