Bug Description
The version of memcached bundled with ubuntu 9.04 was 1.2.2. This version is over three years old and is loaded with bugs and absent of many useful features.
Forward versions of memcached are backwards compatible. It would be *very nice* to have the latest release, 1.4.3, available to 9.04. As far as the move from 1.2.2 to 1.4.3 is concerned, it is fully backwards compatible. There are many new startup options, but no old ones have changed. --enable-threads is no longer necessary, but does not error when attempting to build.
If crossing to 1.4 isn't possible, it would be great if 9.04 could at least make it to 1.2.8. We're getting a *lot* of bug reports from users with software that is horribly out of date.
Thank you.
