Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus

- set nautilus to spatial mode (uncheck 'Always open in browser windows' in the behavior tab of the preferences dialog)
- open the /home directory
- open the /home/$USER directory
- open the /home/$USER/examples directory
- observe that the /home/$USER directory is not displayed as being open, while the examples directory is

expected behaviour:
- in spatial mode, a folder should always be displayed as open when it's open

Thank you for your bug report. The issue is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug the to the people writting the software (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME)

Note that it occurred in this nautilus version: 2.22.5.1-0ubuntu3, and not in 2.28.x as you reported on the bugzilla of gnome.

Bernard, the reports are tested on the latest stable release of GNOME before sending those upstream, meaning GNOME 2.28.X and i can confirm the issue there, that's why I've set the version to the latest stable one, hope that makes sense to you, Thanks.

I tried to reproduce this bug on another computer running ubuntu 9.04 and nautilus 2.26.2

There, folders are never shown as open. This removes the inconsistency, but is less user friendly (users can no longer see that the folder is already open).

spatial mode got deprecated in GNOME3 and oneiric, closing the bug
