It works fine in alpha5 (no persistence + virtualbox). See screenshot.

Ok, that's strange, I have the same problem on the IBM x22.

Can someone test on another machine as well?

Ok so same hardware as the x22. So it must be specific to the current radeon/ati driver and XFCE. I did not see the glitch anywhere else...

i get some weird corruption of some fonts and also the windows decorations sometimes with X32. The fonts start to get screwed, some pixels are not rendered, they keep getting worst as time goes on and there is no way to change it. Weird but not all fonts are affected , only some. Eventually all text labels in for example Xfe get reduced to an empty square, loging out and in does not change anything, i need to restart. I cannot see any cause, it seems quite random, sometimes works fine for a while, others it gets bad pretty quickly.

i added radeon.modeset=0 to /etc/default/grub then run update-grub now sleep works ok (but it takes long time to wake up) however Xfe fonts are totally screwed up (see attached gif). Also icons of open apps (Skype, QjackCtl ...) in the system try appear as empty squares with no icon.

this is also funny

hi enrike, can't find the post right now but i read somewhere that one can simply ignore the message of the unknown boot option. I also got it cause it seems the module is not built inside the kernel, there are few more things one can try:

some people in the arch linux suggest:
"Setting "nomodeset" in the kernel append line works fine. It disables the KMS and returning no errors"

http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=81835
(even though is from arch it gives some hints on the issue)

i've got no problems with fonts rendering awry but do got some blank icons, so decided to turn them all off from the menu, and actually got happily used to the cleaner interface.

im running on 2.6.31-9-rt and also on ATI:
Mobility Radeon HD 3650

thanks nomodeset does not produce any error or warning, however the effect is the same as radeon.modeset=0 so I get weird stuff happening in Xfe fonts and the icons are not working, and i guess in other apps would have problems too. Xfe is developed with Fox toolkit, looks to me like KDE and Gnome apps have no problem so maybe it is an error with this toolkit?

I have this or a similar problem intermittently, though it's quite subtle: sometimes the icons are there, but sometimes they are only a couple of pixels wide which is useless for seeing what they are.
