Bug Description
Binary package hint: indicator-session
I'm running karmic with indicator-session (0.1.7-0ubuntu3) and gnome-screensaver (2.28.0-0ubuntu3).
The "Lock Screen" option works properly right after a fresh boot. After calling
gnome-screensav
followed by
gnome-screensaver
the "Lock Screen" selection no longer does anything. If I run gnome-screensaver with no-daemon and debug,
I get no debug showing up when I select Lock Screen. Using the
"dbus-send --print-reply --reply-timeout=100 --dest=
command, or simply CTRL+ALT+L works as expected, invoking the screensaver.

thank you for your bug report, the issue is fixed in lucid with gnome-screensaver being a dbus service and starting when required
