Bug Description

Binary package hint: network-manager

My Huawei EC168c (sold by Reliance in INDIA) works flawlessly in Ubuntu 9.04, but no longer works in 9.10.
Network manager says " Prepering mobile internet connection...." and then no network connection. :-(
Left Clicking on the device says no Device available
(in 9.04 it showed auto cdma mobile connect in mobile broadband section)

Working with gnome-ppp :-) after setting it up though.

But why a step backward when this worked like a charm in Jaunty.

Linux Kernel 2.6.31-14-generic #46-
All packages updated to Karmic Koala release + updated
Linux Kernel 2.6.31-15 (also) :-(

Kernel has been upgraded to 2.6.32.... latest RC7 version
And network has been updated to latest trunk build too.
No it doesnt get stuck at starting but the connecting animation proceeds but does not connect.
Improvement:-).
Please resolve this soon.

Debug logs gathered with latest builds out of PPA as of Nov23. It worked perfectly for me in 9.04 as well.

@ANIMESH - I just did add all the required debug information, so unless someone asks for more this bug should be good.
I'm going to be watching this bug closely as it is all that is holding back my 9.10 rollout.

For future reference (you shouldn't need to do this for this specific bug), I used this: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingModemmanager

This bug is mostly because of NM and not a kernel level fault.

I can verify the same.
(using opensuse 11.2 with nm 11.2 . there is no problem)

Dear all,

I am facing the same problem with my Reliance BB device - C168c (CE0682) in Lucid (10.04 LTS).
was it not fixed yet?

Any work around for this? i can't even install gnome-ppp since there is no alternative net connection for me.

Is there anyway to use PPP from default 10.04 installation other than networkmanager?
