Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-bluetooth

Gnome-bluetooth 2.28.1-0Ubuntu2 in Karmic does not support DUN-support for nm-applet. It finds the mobile phone, but does not offer using it to connect to the internet.
DUN support works by using Blueman instead.

I have the same problem here.
I have a n97, and I just can't use it as a modem if I'm using gnome-bluetooth.
Blueman works as expected.
As gnome-bluetooth is the default option available on karmic, I see that as a HUGE usability problem.

The same for N900. Works with blueman, but not with gnome-bluetooth.

Yep. I own a 6220 Classic and an N97 and neither works.

(I just noticed the bug has been open for a long time. Sorry for the double posting, I had assumed this information would be irrelevant.)

I'm running Lucid, with gnome-bluetooth 2.30.0-0ubuntu3. blueman from Lucid works fine as the above posters have pointed out.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the stable release - Oneiric Ocelot. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed. You can find out more about the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . Thanks again and we appreciate your help.
