Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

I am using Karmic.

The native resolution of the laptop is 1280x1024. On installation, the resolution was set to 1080x960 and Compiz was enabled ("Normal" desktop effects; working fine). If I change the resolution to the native, the desktop goes black (no picture) and none of the desktop icons are displayed. Changing it back to 1080x960 makes these come back. Also, if I turn off desktop effects, the desktop and icons come back.

In other words, I only lose the desktop and icons if the resolution is 1280x1024 *AND* desktop effects are on normal.
