Dapper installer crash

Bug Description

I got a crash near the end of the install process, after installing packages. Traceback follows, will also attach logs.

More info: the boot loader is screwed up after the failed install, my system is now unbootable. Looks like I will have to boot a rescue CD and run lilo manually. The boot loader (grub?) could be the root of my problems here...

Thanks for your report. This is also bug 46764, and the final Dapper release CD should at the very least explode less spectacularly. As a workaround, use a non-XFS root filesystem, or create a non-XFS /boot filesystem; grub doesn't cope reliably with being installed to XFS on many systems.

All is well in the 'Western Front'. Downloaded Dapper 6.06 alternate CD and
trying it out.
