Bug Description

Binary package hint: gapcmon

Upgraded Ubuntu Desktop 9.04 to 9.10 and gapcmon now will not find icons that are located in /usr/share/icons/gapcmon.
If it is started from shell where current directory is font directory, it will work normally.
Tried uninstalling and reinstalling and still same problem exists.

If gapcmon is set up to use both UPS and control panel tray icons, it becomes unusable since nothing shows up and windows cannot be opened.

Version affected: 0.8.9-1

Same problem for me with karmic, the workaround "launch it from /usr/share/icons/gapcmon/ directory" is working but not very usable...

Viable work around

cd /usr/share/icons/gapcmon

sudo cp * /usr/share/pixmaps/.

Now go into System/Preferences/Startup Applications

and add /usr/bin/gapcmon

logout/login --

Viola -- it works!

Dumb-@$$ work around - but makes programme functional!

Another workaround that doesn't require you to copy any files:

Go to System/Preferences/Startup Applications, and edit the UPS Monitor entry, and change the Command field to this:

/bin/sh -c 'cd /usr/share/icons/gapcmon && /usr/bin/gapcmon'

This just changes to the icons directory before executing the apc monitor.

This has NOT been fixed in version 0.8.9-2 (debian)

I just did a fresh install of Debian Squeeze (6.x) and still had to move the icons.
