Bug Description

I installed OpenShot (0.9.52d) through PPA repository on my Ubuntu Karmic (9.10) 32 bits. After it totem does not start anymore and Openshot does not start too. Will we have some fast and new release to fix this?

The new PPA should fix the Totem support issue - a number of other users have reported using the new PPA without breaking Totem support. Have you installed another version of MLT, or Kdenlive whichwould require a different version?

Hello Andy and Ederon Gomes Dos
Be careful with the version 0.76 of Kdenlive. She brings a spécial version of ffmpeg and desinstall a lot of things (like the offcial Ffmpeg)

I discovered the error is the package frei0r-plugins. When I install multimidia packages like ubuntu-restricted-extras or winff (better) and dependencies, openshot and even kdenlive make totem, empathy, brasero, etc, stop working. I tested package by package and discovered that the problem is some conflict with the package frei0r-plugins. In Kdenlive I can uninstall the package but kdenlive keep working. The same does'nt happen with openshot cause when I uninstall frei0r-plugins, Openshot is uninstalled too.

Please someone: try to install winff or multimida packages and after openshot together. You'll see that Totem, Brasero, empathy and more will stop working. It's cause for frei0r-plugins package but if we uninstall it, openshot is uninstalled too. What to do?

I don't know what's the problem between the packages gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad and frei0r-plugins.
So, to finish this problem we have to uninstall the package gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad (only this). Now openshot, totem, brasero, empathy, etc, work well!

Hi ederson Gomes dos Santos
I'm happy for you but I don't know the link with gstreamer with frei0r-plugins. Like Andy have sad the new ppa brings some answers. The fact that to remove frei0r-plugins removing openshot isn't know by us and certainly an error because freior-plugins is not a necessary package but he is strongly recommanded to install it or to compile it. Thank for all and if it's resolve said us.
