I'm having the same problem. I'm given the option to start in low-graphics mode or to boot to a console, etc., but everything I choose just gives me a black screen, so I simply can't log into my computer now. Apparently many people are experiencing the same problem (see http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1343261, http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1340506 and so on).

I would be grateful if anyone knows how to get past this, since my computer is simply unusable for the moment and the only option I know if is to reinstall the system and not upgrade until I know the bug is fixed.

Thank you.
