Bug Description
Binary package hint: ubuntuone-client
I don't know if I'm doing the right thing. But, I like Ubuntu. And I want Ubuntu project to be successful. For that reason I wanted to report the weaknesses of Ubuntu One.
1. I installed ubuntu-client. But when I started it, it didn't appear in system tray. When I dropped a few files in the Ubuntu One folder under home, the icon appeared in system tray. The problem here is, even the Ubuntu One client is in working condition, as a user you can't see it, and you think something is wrong, and it's not working.
2. When I click on the left mouse button on the Ubuntu One icon in system tray, it says "2 of 20 files are uploading". There's no more information. You can't find out which file is uploading right now, what's the speed, how many hours, or minutes left etc.
3. I interrupted the upload process. And after sometime restarted Ubuntu One. This time when I click on Ubuntu One icon in system tray, it says "your files are up to date". But in fact, my files aren't up to date. Because I have 20 files in Ubuntu One folder in my computer. But when I check my account on the one.ubuntu.com, there's only 1 file. And there's no way to resume the process.
4. When I open my Ubuntu One folder in my computer, I can't see or understand which files are already uploaded. They all look regular computer files.
5. And sharing. If you want to share a file with someone, that person should have an Ubuntu One account. It makes people think once more , who may consider Ubuntu One instead of something else.

Hi Kilic,
Thank you for the thoughtful bug report. I'd like to address each of your requests/comments:
1. By default, the client only appears when there is activity. You can change this in the Ubuntu One client preferences to always show the icon, regardless of activity. The reason we chose the current default is to provide less clutter, as many users did not appreciate yet another icon in their task bar. The compromise is to provide the preference to always show the client in the task bar. This may not be ideal, but it is a way to satisfy most people.
2 & 4. We do need to provide better indication as to what state the files are in (synchronizing, sychronized, not synchronized).
3. This is a bug and we could use your help in determining what the root case is. You can help us out by:
1. Open (or create if it doesn't exist): ~/.config/ ubuntuone/ syncdaemon. conf
2. Add the following 2 lines to this file and save:
[__main__]
log_level = DEBUG
3. Restart the Ubuntu One client ubuntuone/ log/syncdaemon. log to this bug report
4. Let the client try to sync (maybe even add a file to force it to sync)
5. File a new bug by right-clicking on the Ubuntu One client and selecting "Report a Problem"
6. Attach ~/.cache/
5. We do have plans to provide a way for users to share files with everyone, not just Ubuntu One users. This would be through a simply URL.
Thank you,
Joshua
