Binary package hint: update-manager

See attached screen shot. It looks as though the upgrade left some old incompatible packages in place.

Update Manager subsequently ran normally from the System-Administration menu.

Thanks for your bugreport.

Could you please check /var/crash and attach the output of "ls -l /var/crash" ? Could you please also attach any file in there that contains "update-manager" in its name?

Was this a one time problem?

Yes.

The problem appeared on accepting the first routine invitation to update. After collecting the evidence, System-Administration-Update Manager ran successfully with no user input other than default responses.

I think there have been further routine updates. If so, they have been error free. Sorry to be vague but I have three different versions current in different places.
