Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.31-14-generic

(Note: apport fails to automaticaly report the bug, so I'll attach the .crash file)
Suspend to RAM and to disk fail: the laptop doesn't halt (screen is still on, the fan is on). I had to force the power off (holding the power button for 5 seconds). When I power on the laptop, it boots normally and I have a crash notice icon in one of my panels. I click on it and a window opens saying hibernate failed in the last stage of the hibernation.

Both suspend to RAM and to disk work with ubuntu 9.04. I suspect it's related to the ATI driver, because when I upraded fron 9.04 to 9.10 the ATI driver for Xorg wasn't installed and I installed it by hand (synaptic install xserver-xorg-video-ati).

Hi Olivier,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 475132

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I upgraded to Lucid Lynx yesterday, and suspend to RAM works.
Suspend to disk isn't working (the PC goes off, but the session is lost).
I'll try with the latest development release.

Sorry for the delay. I just tested suspend to disk with the kernel 2.6.32-22-generic (upgraded via the update-manager) and it's working!!! XD
Many thanks to the people who solved the bug!
