Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-driver-via

I'm on an Averatec 3715-EH1 laptop with an integrated VIA motherboard, graphics chipset K8N800 or K8M800. Sometimes when I am watching a video, before the video loads the screen will scramble and the system will hang, and I have to reboot. In Breezy, VESA worked fine. That's all I know.

I have a similar problem with Ubuntu edgy. The problem occur only when I run 3d applications.

The system hangs and I can't have a bug report.

there are many people having the same problem on k8m/n800 chipsets. as there already exists a detailed bugreport (#43154), i marked this one as a duplicate to it.
